Additional Copperhead Road Information

It happens to every hard partier--your lifestyle eventually catches up to you. For Steve Earle, this third so-so effort from the then-roué-ish troubadour was a pretty glaring rehab-ahead warning light. The sloppiness was beginning to show: half the disc bogs down in throwaways, cheap echoes of Guitar Town and Exit 0's country-rock acumen. The rest, fortunately, is prime, focused Earle: the Vietnam-vet title track, the Wild West-themed "Snake Oil," and the oft-covered classic "The Devil's Right Hand," in which the composer achieves that perfect balance of city-slick pop and hillbilly twang. Earle would hit that one-two combo again, but not until he shook that party monkey a few albums later. --Tom Lanham

What Customers Say About Copperhead Road:

If you like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr. I love it. It's just got a certain appeal that I can't quite put my finger on.

Steve's music is hard to define because he's done so many different things over the years but this, in my opinion, is his best. Simple lyrics sang with a simple arrangement: pure magic. If you own one album from Steve Earle this is the one to have.

Out of all the stuff I own from blues, metal, jazz, classical, country, and rock, this is one of the albums I listen to most. and Bob Dylan, chances are you'll like Copperhead Road. What we find is a blend of country, folk, and rockabilly music that can't help but put a smile on your face.

Steve has some pretty good rockers here in Copperhead Road and Snake Oil, but my favorite song is the Devils Right Hand.

The picture of Steve on the back, though, in sleeveless shirt and giganto-mullet, is pretty priceless. I really like this album overall, and there are several really good tracks, but overall it still feels a little garage-band-ish. Not bad, really, but a little short on personality.

After I listened to it, I had to borrow it too.Steve Earle isn't one of my favorite artists, but this is still a very good album. However, he loved many of the other songs as well. I got this album for my father for Christmas. The only song he had heard on it was Copperhead Road.

My husband loved this download for his MP3 he has shared it with everyone Thanks

Would recommend to anyone who remotely likes his music. Right up there with other Steve Earle CDs.
